It's been about a year since I sent this out to
everyone, but since we have some new cadet leaders, and lots of new
cadets I thought I'd send it again. Preparing

COMPLIANCE CHECK LIST We received this email from New
Jersey Wing through Lt Col Paul Spencer at SWR. JOE
R. SMITH, Col, CAP Texas Wing
Commander 940-704-3481 Cell
Subject: NIMS COMPLIANCE CHECK LIST Here is an
outstanding "how to" message outlining the steps needed
to comply with NIMS requirements for ICS courses. Credit
for this very useful guide goes to Lt. Col. Steven
Tracy, NJW DOT! Lt. Col. Don Blumenfeld DCS/ES,
NER
Below is a checklist to help you complete the required
NIMS Training for Emergency Services Specialties. To
ensure that you complete this training and
validation process properly, please follow the 12-step
checklist below exactly as shown and in the order it
is written. Deviation from any step on the checklist
will only delay validation and prevent you from
participating in missions! Please be aware that
you may not participate in any ES mission, whether
actual or exercise, until the required NIMS courses for
your specialties are completed and validated by NJW. As
of 10 JAN 09, the wing is still below 50% mission
readiness capability due to missing NIMS training! The
Wing Commander has asked everyone with ES qualifications
to make completion of these courses a priority, so
please do your best to complete these requirements as
soon as possible. If you are considering training in any
ES Specialty, you must complete the required NIMS
courses associated with that specialty before you begin
training. Keep the checklist for future
reference.
NIMS TRAINING CHECKLIST Follow
these instructions in this order for each
course!
- Review what courses you need with your ES
Officer or Commander. They were provided with a list
of requirements for each member in your squadron.
- Go to these links for the course(s) you need:
- After completing a course, FEMA will send you a
completion certificate via an Email link, so you may
download it in PDF format and save it on your hard
drive. Print the certificate for your records, and
provide a copy to your Personnel and ES
Officers.
Once you have received the completion
certificate from FEMA,,,
- Sign into eServices.
- On the left side, click on "My Operations
Qualifications/National Reports". A new page will
appear.
- On this "Operations Qualifications" page, click on
"Emergency Services" at the top. A new page will
appear.
- Click the blue tab that reads "SQTR Entry". DO NOT
USE ANY OTHER TAB!!!!
- Pull-down the menu titled "Achievement", and click
on the IS course you have completed.
- Pull-down the menu titled "Date of Completion",
and select the date you completed the course on the
graphical calendar provided.
- Scroll down, and click on the box under "Check to
Save".
- Click "Submit" at the bottom of the page. A note
will pop-up that your information has been submitted
for validation.
You're almost done.... and this
VALIDATION step is VERY important:
- Your submission will be sent electronically to
your squadron commander for validation. Send another
electronic copy, or print and deliver a copy of the
certificate to your squadron personnel/administration
officer for inclusion in your
records.
E-mailing the PDF certificate is
preferred, or send the original Email from FEMA that
contains the link to your certificate. Ask someone in
your unit if you need help. Commanders and ES
officers are not permitted to validate your
record! Validation must be done by Wing HQ
only! What courses do I need RIGHT NOW? See
